Feature Schist Panels
Craftstone Feature Schist Panels are made from hand selected pieces of natural stone which are then glued together to form modular panels. This allows for the streamlined installation of dry stacked stone veneer. Feature Schist Panels work well for both interior and exterior applications, creating a modern take on traditional schist. Feature Schist Panels are much faster to install than conventional stone installations of comparable style and quality. Less cutting and waste minimizes dust and noise pollution, clean up and disposal.
Feature Schist Panels can be chipped, power washed, or lightly brushed without damage, compared to faux stone products which cannot. Can also be used in water features. The modular installation of natural stacked stone is made easy with Craftstone Feature Schist Panels. The labour intensive process of "drystacking" individual stones is eliminated with this innovative solution to a traditional application. Matching corner pieces available for that finishing touch.

Q: Is this real stone?
A: Yes, Feature Schist is the real thing. It is individual stones cut into uniform rectangular shapes and then glued together to form 150mm x 600mm panels.
Q: Is Feature Schist panels expensive?
A: Not at all. Feature Schist is a cost effective alternative to expensive traditional schist applications and is even comparable in price to many manufactured stone veneers. Feature Schist will also save you big bucks due to the speed and ease of installation. No extra footings needed! Feature Schist is simply glued to the wall in the manner of a tile.
Q: Can anyone lay it?
A: Any competent handyperson / tradesperson can lay Feature Schist however for best results, (and the full 15 Year System Warranty), we recommend using a Licensed Craftstone Applicator.
Q: How heavy is Feature Schist?
A: Approximately 55kg per m2
Q: Does Feature Schist need to be sealed?
A: In most cases sealing is not necessary however we do recommend it be applied in some circumstances. Where stone is exposed to chemicals, such as around swimming pools, or coastal areas where there is moist salt air it would be recommended for stones containing iron to be sealed. If you choose to seal your stone we recommend that you use a penetrating sealer.
Q: What substrate do I use?
A: 9mm Eterpan by PBS or other fibre-cement sheet as approved by Craftstone NZ Ltd. Feature Schist may also be glued onto concrete blocks, tilt slab, some AAC concrete products as well as any structurally sound brick wall.
